INTENTION OF THE GOSPEL WRITERS
Luke 1:1-4 It is thought the author of Luke's Gospel is either writing to a person called Theophilus or all people who "love God" which is the meaning of Theophilus. It is also thought that the author was a doctor or someone quite learned and meticulous. He states he wants to reveal "the truth" but his truth particularly emphasises the relevance of Jesus' story for Gentiles. From this passage, what do we discover about how the story of Jesus spread over time? John 20:30-31
John is not one of the synoptic gospels. The other three gospels are structured more like biographies based on shared evidence with Mark's Gospel the earliest one. John's differs in that it focuses on the identity of Christ with reference to his signs (miracles) and sayings. John portrays Jesus as the New Adam.
